Nouns are the names of people, places, things, and ideas. Imagine them as labels for stuff around you. There are two types:
Common nouns: These are general names for things, like “dog,” “book,” or “city.” They start with capital letters only if they’re at the beginning of sentences.
Proper nouns: These are unique names for specific things, like “Rover” for a dog, “Harry Potter” for a book character, or “New York” for a city. They always start with capital letters.
Nouns can be singular (one) or plural (more than one). To make most nouns plural, add “s” at the end, like turning “dog” into “dogs.” Some change, like “child” becoming “children.”
Nouns help us talk about everything, from people and pets to places and things you love. They’re like the building blocks of sentences!
